พระพุทธนวราชบพิตร ทรงสร้างเพื่อผองไทย
พระพุทธนวราชบพิตร เป็นพระพุทธรูปสำริดปางมารวิชัย ขนาดหน้าตัก ๙ นิ้ว พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวทรงออกแบบเมื่อพุทธศักราช ๒๕๐๙ เพื่อพระราชทานแก่จังหวัดต่างๆทั่วประเทศและหน่วยทหาร ทั้งได้จำลองพระราชทานทุกอำเภอ ลักษณะสำคัญคือ มีพระพิมพ์ที่ทรงประดิษฐ์ ประดิษฐานอยู่ที่กึ่งกลางฐานบัวหงายด้านหน้า เมื่อมีหมายกำหนดการเสด็จพระราชดำเนินจังหวัดใดก็ตาม ผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดจะอัญเชิญพระพุทธนวราชบพิตร ประดิษฐานในการพิธีเพื่อทรงสักการะ
พระพุทธรูปที่เป็นพระพิมพ์ ขนาดฐานกว้าง ๒ เซนติเมตร ที่พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวทรงประดิษฐานขึ้นระหว่างพุทธศักราช ๒๕๐๘ – ๒๕๑๒ ประกอบด้วยผงศักสิทธิ์ส่วนพระองค์ ผงดอกไม้แห้งจากการบูชาพระพุทธมหามณีรัตนปฏิมากร และพระพุทธรูปสำคัญของไทย มวลสารศักดิ์สิทธิ์จากทั่วราชอาณาจักร วัดสำคัญในหัวเมือง เป็นต้น การสร้างพระพิมพ์นี้ ส่วนหนึ่งเพื่อประดิษฐานไว้ ณ ฐานพระพุทธนวราชบพิตร อีกส่วนหนึ่งพระราชทานเป็นขวัญและกำลังใจแก่ข้าราชบริพาร ทหาร ตำรวจ และผู้ปฏิบัติหน้าที่ในการทำงานเพื่อแผ่นดิน
Phra Buddha Nawaraj Bopit is a Buddha image with the gusture of Subduing Mara, nine incheswide at the knees. The King commissioned this Buddha image to this own design in 1966 to distribute to each province and various military units, with replicas distributed to every district. The feature of this Buddha image is the inclusion of an amulet in the centre of the lotus base. Whenever the King visited a certain province, the provincial governor would install Phra Buddha Nawaraj Bopit in the royal pavilion for the King to pay homage to.
His Majesty personally made amulets with a base of 2 cms. This was designed from dried jasmine garlands used to pay homage to the Emerald Buddha and other important Buddha image in Thailand as well as sacred substances from all around the country, from important provincial temples. These amulets were installed in the base of Phra Buddha Nawaraj Bopit, while others were distributed to courtiers, policemen and others serving the country to provide them with spiritual support.
